Many clients come to me feeling exactly this way - questioning if they'll ever feel better. You deserve healing and growth, and you're ready for a new chapter.

To provide evidenced-based trauma informed therapy that helps individuals move through their past, and reconnect with who they truly are today.
You don't have to carry pain alone or treat survival like success. I envision a world where healing is radical and compassionate, where nervous systems are honored, and rest is respected. Through EMDR and honest, trauma-informed therapy, I help people break free from old cycles and move toward real, sustainable thriving.
I'm Marissa, a licensed mental health counselor practicing in New York - a former hospitality leader turned therapist, blending my experience in understanding people's needs with my passion for helping them heal and grow through therapy.
I enjoy supporting those who have experienced trauma, and now find that is impacting their relationships - particularly the relationship with themselves. Many clients find their way to me after trying other therapeutic approaches, and still feeling like something is weighing on them. Many people I see are looking for a unique way to minimize feeling triggered in their everyday life.
A little more about me: in my spare time, I like to take my dog Kaia for walks, lift weights, and garden. I was born and raised on Long Island, and now reside upstate with my husband and step son.
My in person office is located at 706 Kings Rd. in Schenectady, NY.

I don't believe there's one "right" way to do therapy because there isn't one kind of person. We all carry different experiences, challenges, and strengths. So, my approach is to get to know you first - not try to fit you into a treatment plan that wasn't built with you in mind. I pull from approaches like CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, person-centered, and somatic therapy, but what matters most to me is finding what genuinely helps you.
My passion for trauma work grew while supporting individuals who had experienced domestic violence and complex trauma. I saw how powerful it can be to have someone sit beside you without judgment, hold space for your story, and remind you that healing doesn't have to happen all at once. That experience continues to shape the kind of therapist I strive to be.
Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, navigating a life change, or simply trying to understand yourself a little better, therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of what's happening, and move forward in a way that feels true to you.
When I'm not working, you'll probably find me trying a new restaurant, rock climbing, or curling up with a good book and my furbabies.
If you're ready to start, I'd be honored to meet you where you are.
